Just before the start of the winter zman in Chabad yeshivos, the inaugural annual Yeshivos Conference, organized by “Karmi Sheli” in partnership with the yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel, was held at the luxurious D-Hotel in Ma’ale Adumim. Maggidei shiurim and mashpiim from yeshivos across the country gathered for this major event.

After checking in, the hanhala members met with one another in the comfortable indoor and outdoor areas.

The conference opened with engaging panels and lectures aimed at providing the yeshiva staff with professional tools and guidance to enhance their sacred mission.

The opening session featured a thought-provoking panel on issues often raised with talmidim in Yeshivos, including how to inspire talmidim with a love for Torah, inspire spiritual significance over material pursuits, and address sensitive topics in kedusha. Many practical ideas and resolutions emerged, promising to make an immediate impact in yeshiva life.

After maariv and a lavish meal, the staff participated in additional sessions, including a lecture on financial management by R’ Shachar Wolf, a renowned Chabad financial advisor, and a presentation on addressing challenges with at-risk students by Rabbi Tzvi Weiss.

The evening concluded with an uplifting farbrengen with Reb Zalman Gopin and other leading mashpi’im and roshei yeshiva, continuing late into the night.

The second day began with a morning schedule of Chassidus, mikvah, and shachris. The staff signed a Pan Kloli to the Rebbe, followed by a special panel featuring veteran yeshiva educators, who shared their insights and guidance based on their own experiences and horaos they received from the Rebbe.

The next part of the program generated much interest with a special panel featuring the elder and veteran members of the yeshiva staff, titled “Z’kenecha V’yomru Lach.” In this session, critical issues faced by the staff were raised and discussed, and the participants received guidance from the mashpi’im based on mainos they and others received, as well as their wealth of experience.

Breakout sessions allowed groups such as mashpi’im, ramim, and mashgichim to collaborate and discuss challenges specific to their roles. Meanwhile, a closed-door meeting of menahalim addressed broader issues, leading to resolutions that are expected to influence yeshiva operations in the coming zman.

After Mincha, everyone gathered for a group photo, and then sat down for the central session marking the conclusion of the kinus.

The program was MC’d by Rabbi Menachem Mordechai Kenig of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Lud. Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Diskin, rosh yeshiva and rov of Kiryat Ata and a member of the Beis Din Rabbonei Chabad, shared stories and directives he received from the Rebbe regarding chinuch. Rabbi Zushe Alperovitch, mashpia at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Kiryat Gat, delivered a powerful address on the essence of shlichus in yeshiva education.

An interesting presentation was made by Rabbi Yaakov Moyal and his father, popular actor R’ Amram Moyal, who spoke and acted out the challenges bochurim face transitioning between yeshiva and the home and maintaining their chassidishe identity during bein hazmanim.

To cap the event, a raffle was held for a ticket to the upcoming Kinus Hashluchim in New York, which was won by Rabbi Shmuel Pressman, mashpia at Yeshivas Toras Emes.

Months of preparation by the “Karmi Sheli” leadership—Rabbi Menachem Halperin, Rabbi Chanania Yosef Valless, and Rabbi Nata Gerlitzky—alongside Rabbi Meir Yaakov Zilberstrom of Yeshivas Migdal HaEmek and Rabbi Schneur Brod of Yeshivas Rechovot, ensured the event’s success. Their efforts, in collaboration with yeshiva administrations, provided an unparalleled platform for strengthening and supporting those dedicated to educating the next generation of chassidim.
