Bochurim in Oholei Torah Zal held an all-out birthday celebration for Rabbi Avrohom Gerlitzky, presenting him with a rather unusual gift.

A grand party was held on Sunday, 14 Cheshvan, celebrating the 73rd birthday of Rabbi Avrohom Gerlitzky, Maggid shiur at Oholei Torah Zal.

For almost four decades, the yeshiva bochurim have celebrated Rabbi Gerlitzky’s birthday with a full on celebration, including farbrengen, birthday cake and presents.

This year was no different. A massive banner stretched over Kingston Ave, wishing the veteran teacher a happy birthday. The celebration itself took place in Crown Heights’ Agudah Shul, in which the bochurim presented Rabbi Gerlitzky with a card, gift of a treadmill and a special cupcake-cake featuring an edible version of his desk.

The celebration took place amid much singing, dancing and music, with many former students stopping by to give and receive brachos from their beloved teacher.
