Wilkes Yeshiva Celebrates Siyum on Likkutei Sichos
What began nine years ago during a simple car ride home between Mendel Perlman and his father, Rabbi Uri Perlman, turned into a festive siyum at Bais Menachem “Wilkes,” where Mendel celebrated completing the entire Likkutei Sichos.
A moving celebration took place this week at Bais Menachem “Wilkes” marking a milestone of dedication and inspiration as Rabbi Mendel Perlman — teacher, member of the hanhala, and son of Rabbi Uri Perlman, founder and director of the yeshiva — completed the entire Likkutei Sichos.
The journey began nine years ago, during a simple car ride with his father. Rabbi Uri shared a thought that would leave a lasting impact:
“If you want to understand the Rebbe’s worldview — especially on the parsha — you should learn Likkutei Sichos.”
Then, just a bochur, Mendel took his father’s words to heart. One sicha led to another, then a full sefer, then another — until, nine years later, he reached the final page.
Now a newly married member of the yeshiva’s staff, together with his wife and newborn son, Yosef Yitzchok, Mendel marked this remarkable accomplishment surrounded by family, friends, and talmidim.
The siyum took place in the yeshiva’s main zal, filled with genuine joy and inspiration. A festive dinner was followed by heartfelt remarks from Rabbi Uri Perlman and Rabbi Mendel’s grandfather, Rabbi Tzvi Perlman, who spoke with deep pride and emotion. The atmosphere reflected the achdus and warmth that define the Bais Menachem family and community.
During the event, Mendel introduced a new initiative for bochurim: those who commit to learning the “Back to Basics – Likkutei Sichos” project for a full year and successfully complete tests will receive a complete set of Likkutei Sichos. The program aims to help students learn with structure, motivation, and guidance. It also offers something extra for those eager to continue growing through more advanced learning.
In addition, Rabbi Mendel announced that he will be available during the afternoon period for anyone who wishes to learn together, ask questions, or seek help understanding a sicha.
He also took upon himself to continue his journey by beginning to learn the Sefer HaSichos of the Rebbe.
With admiration and joy, the Bais Menachem family celebrates Rabbi Mendel Perlman’s siyum — and the new wave of learning and inspiration it has already begun to ignite.
