Where Boys Became Soldiers, Tefillin Stands Carry Their Names
Forty custom Tefillin stands with mehudar tefillin, each carrying the name of another young soldier who fell in the ongoing war, have been stationed at the high school where they attended. The stands are the project of Chabad Youth by Rabbi Moshe Shilat and are sponsored by R’ Yossi Popack.
Forty special customized full-wood Tefillin stands left the Chabad Youth warehouse in Eretz Yisroel, received with great excitement by forty of our shluchim on campus and with teens — together with pairs of beautiful mehudar Tefillin.
These forty new stands join another forty distributed in recent years, where countless young people put on Tefillin every day — on campuses, in high schools, and in our Chabad Youth and Campus centers.
Among the new forty, twenty stand out with special meaning: each one is dedicated to a young soldier who fell in the war that began on Simchas Torah 5784. These stands are being placed in the very high schools where those soldiers once studied as teenagers. Many of them were part of our Chabad Youth branches before joining the IDF, where they later gave their lives al kiddush Hashem.
The high schools excitedly welcomed this initiative, happily giving permission to place the Tefillin stands inside the schools, alongside photos of the fallen, so that every mitzvah performed there will be in their merit.
Rabbi Moshe Shilat, director of Chabad Youth in Israel, who oversees the project, expressed heartfelt thanks to our generous donors — Mr. Yossi Popack — who sponsored the purchase of 50 new pairs of Tefilin, and the Pitchoto family who made it possible to provide the wooden customized stands for the Tefillin, adding hundreds of young men putting on Tefillin daily, B”H
