The popular WhatsApp messaging app is experiencing a massive outage, preventing messages from being sent or received.
WhatsApp, one of the most popular apps in the world, has gone down in what appears to be a global outage, according to users in multiple countries.
The outage began at roughly 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday when users said they were unable to send or receive new messages. Reports are coming in from all parts of the world.
Issue reports for the US alone have surpassed 24,000.
Approximately 55 percent say they are having issues sending messages, 42 percent are experiencing problems with the app, and three percent said the website is not working.
The cause of the outage was not immediately known and there’s no comment yet from WhatsApp.
Not only the Mobile App version is down, the Web version is also not working.
