Watch: Celebrating 50 years of Mivtzah Neshek, Chabad on Campus released a new music video created for the recent Pegisha Shabbaton, on the light of Shabbos candles throughout the ages. The video features an original song by Eli Marcus and live sand art by Naomi Zeivald.
The Pegisha’s theme this year was Be the Light, and the music video highlights Shabbos candles as a constant light throughout the ages. The message is especially appropriate now as the world needs more Jewish light and we celebrate 50 years of Mivtzah Neshek.

LYRICS:
[Verse]
In the quiet of the twilight
Shadows start to play
The gentle flicker of the candles
Chase the night away
At the dawn of our eternal story
Sarah’s candles lit the way
To a long and colorful history
Where our rich traditions stay
[Verse]
In Jerusalem’s sacred walls
Where the Temple’s grace did dwell
From the golden age of prophets
To the sages’ timeless tales
Through exiles and return
And in the dark of every storm
The light of our holy candles
Kept our spirits safe and warm
[Chorus]
Shabbat candles, ancient lights
Through the ages ever bright
Guiding hearts and souls anew
In their glow our faith is true
Every candle brings a tale
from the past until today
In their soft, enduring glow
We find strength and light our way
[Verse]
On our journey through the ages
Many tried to stop our way
Inquisition, holocaust,
and that dark October day
When history’s dark figures
Tried to snuff our light
The candles remained a beacon
A prayer for Israel’s plight
[Chorus]
Shabbat candles, ancient lights
Through the ages ever bright
Guiding hearts and souls anew
In their glow our faith is true
Every candle brings a tale
from the past until today
In their soft, enduring glow
We find strength and light our way
[Bridge]
Gathered here together
We become that holy light
Each soul a G-dly candle
Ignites a hope so bright
We’ll create Shabbat with no end
A world that only knows peace
Exile will lose its grip
All its captives will find release
[Chorus Ending]
Every candle brings a tale
from the past until today
In their soft, enduring glow
We find strength and light our way
