Watch: Invest in Tefillin, Win on Tefillin Bags
A funny clip by Machon Stam shows how they help parents get beautiful bags at a reduced price to accompany the high-quality tefillin they get for their Bar Mitzvah son. Plus: Bonus “behind-the-scenes” footage.
When parents come to buy Tefillin for their son, they’re not just purchasing an item — they’re investing in a lifelong mitzvah.
That’s why there should never be a compromise on the Tefillin themselves.
At Machon Stam, we understand the reality. Today, sets of leather Tefillin bags — the styles most boys want — often cost $700 or $800, which is a significant expense on top of the Tefillin themselves.
Our approach is simple:
Premium Tefillin. No Compromises.
Invest in the Tefillin That Matter — We’ll Take Care of the Rest
At Machon Stam, we work with highly respected chassidishe sofrim, placing strong emphasis on the integrity, yiras Shamayim of the sofer himself. This is something that cannot be seen simply by looking at a beautifully written parsha, yet it is foundational to the mitzvah.
The batim and retzuos come only from reliable, trusted sources, with careful attention to halachic standards and long-term durability.
Beyond the writing itself, we place great emphasis on the hagoah and checking process. Each pair undergoes thorough, meticulous checking, including close attention to the tagin, the crowns of the letters, and the proper form of the tagei lameds.
This is not a regular purchase.
It affects the spiritual and physical well-being of your son.
Your son will one day thank you for investing in what truly matters.
That part is non-negotiable.
Helping Parents Save Where It Makes Sense
Here’s where Machon Stam helps families in a meaningful way.
Because of our long-standing relationships and scale, we’re able to offer beautiful, high-quality leather Tefillin bags at significantly reduced pricing when Tefillin are purchased through us.
While similar bag sets commonly sell for $700–$800, parents who buy Tefillin at Machon Stam save an average of $300 or more — without compromising on appearance, craftsmanship, or durability.
That means:
• Less money spent on accessories
• More focus on the Tefillin themselves

Bonus “behind the scenes” footage:

Cute, though I was actually expecting that they’re startled and fearful at seeing the actual tefillin on his head (וראו כל עמי הארץ… ויראו ממך).
This is so wrong!
Please think back to when almost all the men in 770 took off their ties (and stopped wearing ties) when the Rebbe spoke about chitzoniyus and their excessive concern over how they looked.
Does the creator of this video even remember that day? It’s probably way before he was born.
We don’t need to dress and carry in such an ostentatious way that people fall off the roof looking at us.
This is overboard and not what a bar mitzvah boy needs to worry about
While it’s true that one shouldn’t be flashing their fancy sneakers or golden suit, but THIS is directly related to a Mitzvah!!! It’s so beautiful that a Bar Mitzvah Bochur’s “fashion statement” isn’t sneakers or sweatpants, but his Tefillin bag! Similar to a beautiful Esrog box or like the Rebbe’s sterling silver Megillah case.
There is such a positive way to look at this “koch” in having a beautiful Tefillin bag that he’s proud to display in the street, and I’m sure Hashem sees it in that beautiful way.
