Hostages

On Monday evening, Hamas returned the body of one hostage. He was later identified as:

Tal Haimi, 41

Hamas is still holding the bodies of 15 hostages, and slow-walking their release.

Gaza – Hamas Ceasefire Violations

While the ceasefire still holds, it is shaky at best, with constant violations by Hamas.

53% of Gaza remains under IDF control, in the area beyond the Yellow Line. However, several Hamas terrorists remain holed up, hiding within Israel’s area, preparing attacks against IDF soldiers. Israel warned that they must evacuate immediately, or will be attacked by the IDF.

Hamas continues to walk into the Yellow Line, in the direction of terrorists—not only sending civilians, or unarmed terrorists, but brazenly walking up to it while armed, and posing a threat to IDF troops.

In three separate incidents today, terrorists crossed the Yellow Line, and posed a direct threat to IDF troops:
– Once in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis—they were eliminated by an Israeli Air Force jet.
– Twice in Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighborhood—where troops fired at and eliminated them.

IDF forces have been working to mark the yellow line, by placing concrete yellow barriers and yellow poles all along the perimeter, in intervals of approximately 200 meters.

Hamas’s Power

Amin Abed, a Gazan who was severely tortured by Hamas last year, is wondering why no one is stopping Hamas’s atrocities against Gaza’s civilians. Abed told the Center for Peace Communications that since the ceasefire began, Hamas has publicly killed between 80–100 people—not counting those who were abducted or “disappeared.”

According to IDF estimates, Hamas still has a force of around 20,000 terrorists, who they are working to reorganize. Hamas’s ammunition supply is at an all-time low, but not zero; they still have over 10,000 rifles, thousands of RPGs, and hundreds of rockets (mostly short range, some medium). They also still have more than half the tunnels they started off with, hundreds of kilometers.

Israelis are growing concerned that Hamas has not been fully defeated. Hamas still insists that they will return to attack Israel again, and will never disarm or give up the idea of fighting Israel. And with that, comes concern that the problem has been outsourced to people who haven’t proven themselves.

Implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement

Israeli security sources told Ynet that America is dictating the reality on ground, ever since the ceasefire went into effect. Otherwise, Israel would have responded much more decisively to yesterday’s attack that killed two IDF soldiers. Still, the sources say that America is backing Israel against Hamas’s violations and refusal to disarm, and understands the need to eradicate Hamas.

In response to questioning from reporters today, U.S. President Trump said that many countries have expressed interest in being part of a new force in Gaza which will disarm Hamas (though he didn’t specify any names).

Trump added that Israel would go in and get rid of Hamas “if I asked them.” But that he first wants to give a chance for less violent methods.

Vice President J.D. Vance is expected to arrive in Israel on Tuesday afternoon, and along with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, will work on enforcing the ceasefire agreement.

Vance will first visit IDF headquarters, and newly established American headquarters where 200 American soldiers are stationed, and tasked with supervising the implementation of the ceasefire agreement. On Wednesday, Vance will meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu, President Herzog, families of hostages, and perhaps visit the Old City of Jerusalem.

Lebanon – Disarming Hezbollah

Israel’s Air Force struck Hezbollah terror infrastructure today, in the Nabatieh area in southern Lebanon. The infrastructure was in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

As part of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement, Lebanon committed to disarm Hezbollah and remove them from southern Lebanon by the end of 2025. The deadline is fast approaching, with Hezbollah far from disarmed.

The Lebanese Army has been making some effort, but not nearly enough.

IDF forces mark the Yellow Line in Gaza, which Hamas isn’t supposed to cross.

In a ’60 Minutes’ interview, President Trump’s hostage envoy Steve Witkoff revealed that the president personally authorized him and Jared Kushner to hold direct talks with Hamas. Witkoff said he told National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir that Israel needed to “let it go” and that it “can’t play the victim all the time.”
