1 Jewish nation united in prayer, charity, and good deeds.
While Israel came under fire from all sides, Israelis spent a Yom Kippur of unity. Streets were quiet, and prayers went on in public spaces everywhere with reverence for the day. Many even prayed on Yom Kippur for the first time in their life.
In Gaza and Lebanon too, Israeli soldiers prayed as they marched forward, with G-d right there, at their side. May they find His answer to our ultimate prayer very soon.
Gaza:
– Hamas fired rockets at Ashkelon on Yom Kippur.
– Heavy fighting in Jabaliya, where Hamas terrorists had reorganized.
– The IDF has not stated publicly, but reports on ground indicate that the IDF blocked off all areas north of Gaza City—including Jabaliya, Beit Lahiya, and Beit Hanoun. This is after a week of evacuation warnings. Locals claim that no food or aid is being allowed into the area. This may be a first to the “General’s Plan.”
Lebanon:
– Over Yom Kippur, Hezbollah fired over 320 rockets and drones at Israel, including a drone that hit a retirement home in densely populated Herzilya. Thank G-d, no physical injuries were reported in the retirement home.
– Israeli Air Force and artillery struck over 200 Hezbollah targets
– 50 terrorists eliminated in airstrikes and direct combat
– Estimates that Israel has destroyed between 60% to 70% of Hezbollah’s firepower by now (according to Alon Ben-David of Maariv). This still leaves Hezbollah with a huge 60,000+ munitions, compared to the 13,000 they had in 2006.
– The body of Abbas Nil Foroshan, a senior IRGC brigadier general, was found at the site of the airstrike that eliminated Nasrallah.
– Unverified reports that Hossein Muhammad Asili, who succeeded the previous commander of the Radwan force in southern Lebanon, Jamal A-Tawil, has been eliminated.
– The Christian town of Ramish, in Southern Lebanon, raised white flags on their roofs. The town has remained neutral, and not allowed Hezbollah members in.
Iran:
– The Israeli government cabinet has not yet voted approval for the attack on Iran, only preliminary plans. It will likely vote at the very last minute, to avoid leaks.
– The defense establishment has reportedly narrowed down options, and is near making a decision. Timing is not yet decided.
– Israel will likely update the U.S. right before the attack.
– YNet reports that the U.S. is considering deployment of THAAD air defense batteries in Israel, which will be operated by U.S. soldiers deployed in Israel. The system will reinforce Israeli defenses against Iranian ballistic missiles.
– Iran is panicking, and sent a message to Israel: if Israel limits its attack, then Iran will ignore it and won’t respond.
