Rabbi Yakov and Chava Gitler, shluchim to Freiburg, Germany, celebrated two special milestones today, Sunday: the inauguration of their new community center as well as a momentous Hachnosas Sefer Torah.

A joyous crowd accompanied the Torah down the city’s main shopping avenue, which was blocked off for the occasion. The street, which carried the name of the German Fuhrer during the Second World War, was charged with spirited Jews, singing, dancing and displaying proudly: Am Yisrael chai!

The Torah is unique in that it was dedicated to all terror victims in Eretz Hakodesh and even traveled to locations of terror attacks, where family members who lost their loved ones were able to write a letter in the Torah.
