This is Not STAM a Course

A new course offered by the Havineni Institute starting next Tuesday will give anash and shluchim the basics of STAM, providing them with skills they can immediately put to use.

Do you want to learn a skill that can help you provide for your family while remaining within a Torah atmosphere? Are you a shliach in a small town wishing you could check mezuzahs yourself instead of sending them off to the nearest Jewish city to be checked? Do you want to be an educated consumer when buying Sta”m?

The Havineni Institute is launching a new Safrus course in English, enabling Anash across the spectrum to learn and understand these important Halachos and their practical applications.

In order to give participants a complete and comprehensive experience, we have partnered with Lishkas Hakodesh, an organization that specializes in offering high-quality Stam courses. Lishkas Hakodesh is known worldwide as being the best of its kind, with a reputation of producing sofrim and magihim who are knowledgeable and proficient.

While the course is structured primarily around the Mishnah Berurah, all of the Alter Rebbe’s psakim are intergrated into the curriculum. In addition, it includes an overview of all the opinions of the modern-day halachic authorities regarding practical halacha.

Every area of practical halacha is covered; by the end of the course, participants will be able to answer any question regarding Hilchos Stam as they are currently applied. In addition, students will analyze pictures of the letters as they study the halachos.

“If I can check the mezuzas coming to the Chabad house myself, I can provide faster and more efficient service to the people of my city,” said one shliach who signed up for the course. “This will significantly increase Mivtza Mezuzah. It will also help me get to know many families in the community who do not come to any other Chabad activity.”

The Havineni Institute was founded with the support and encouragement of the Beis Din Rabbonei Chabad in Eretz Yisroel. Its purpose is to make the study of halacha easily accessible to Anash, at all levels of learning. The online learning platform offers a unique way to learn halacha from the comfort of home. The material covered in each course is accessible and practical, so that the halachos can be applied to real-life situations as they are learned.

Since its founding, the Institute has had courses in Hebrew on Chuppah and Kiddushin, Shabbos, Taharas Hamishpacha, Mikvaos, Teffilah, Brachos, and Smicha (Issur V’heter). Instructors include leading Rosh Kollels and rabbonim whose broad knowledge and skilled teaching greatly benefit the students.

Following the great success of the Hebrew courses, the online institute began offering English courses, such as this safrus course, which begins on Tuesday, 16 Shevat. The first shiur can be viewed free of charge.

A two-day shimush sesion will be held in Crown Heights right after the Kinus Hashluchim 5781.
