Tanya Is Translated into World’s Most Spoken Language: Chinese

Did you know that Chinese is spoken by the largest number of people in the world? A campaign is underway to publish a section of Tanya in Chinese, making it available to the many Jews and non-Jews who speak the language.

The first-ever translation of Shaar HaYichud V’HaEmunah into Chinese was just completed by Wellsprings Global, an organization that is sharing the light of Jewish wisdom and universal values with the world, and will be published with Kehos, and posted on chabad.org.

They also began the first-ever Tanya classes for Chinese speakers from around the world. They initiated cooperation with JLI and JEM to create a Noahide curriculum and curated video content promoting universal values; they created Chinese subtitles for 19 Bnei Noach educational videos.

The editor, Rabbi Mattisyahu Trusch, is the founder and executive director of Wellsprings Global, and oversees the team of Chinese translators in Israel, Europe and USA. Matt earned a master’s degree from Harvard University in Chinese Studies, and spent 15 years of his career living and working in Asia. Matt also co-hosts the Gate of Trust Podcast, and pioneers TRUST 101.

The translator, Mrs. Elisheva Martinetti, was born in North-East China. She was educated in Kesser Torah College in Sydney, Australia. After high school, she went on to study in Beis Chana Seminary in Tzfat before becoming a teacher at Lubavitch Senior Girls’ School in London, UK. Today, Elisheva is on Shlichus in Milan, Italy with her husband Rabbi Dovid Martinetti and their three children.
