Rabbi Mendel Edelman will be joining the hanhala of the Yeshiva Gedola of Suffield, Connecticut, in the Zal’s inaugural year.
The Yeshiva Campus of Suffield, Connecticut, preparing for its third year of operation, and their first year of Yeshiva Gedola – Zal, announced that Rabbi Mendel Edelman will be joining the hanhala in the role of mashpia for the upcoming year.
Rabbi Edelman hails from Crown Heights, where he was raised and studied in Yeshiva. He later studied in Tomchei Tmimim of Brunoy, France, and served as a mashpia in Westchester Yeshiva prior to his marriage.
Over the past year and a half, as he studied in Kollel in Crown Heights, he also served as a magid shiur for Heichal Menachem in Boro Park. His shiurim in Chassidus attracted diverse crowds, who appreciated his depth and clarity in explaining the profound concepts contained within.
Rabbi Edelman will be serving as mashpia for the Zal – Yeshiva Gedola, which will be opening for its inaugural year this Elul. He will be joined by menahel and rosh yeshiva Rabbi Bentzion Bluming and other members of hanhala.
The Zal – Yeshiva Gedola was announced earlier this year, after two successful years of the Suffield Mesivta. Despite the short time since it opened, the yeshiva has already received great acclaim, both for the ruchnius – the high standard of learning and chassidishkeit, and for the gashmius – the expectational 60 acre campus with newly renovated dorm rooms, full size pool, and fitness center, as well as the first rate meals.
The Yeshiva Gedola will build on that success and capitalize on the existing achievements to create a model that will produce bochurim of the highest caliber. A detailed mission statement published by the administration spells out their vision and goals for the Zal, as well as their objectives in learning Chassidus, Gemara, Halacha, Rambam, and the study of fundamentals of hashkafa.
In keeping in line with the teachings of our holy Rebbeim, that a yeshiva is much more than simply an academic institution, the Zal will also place a strong focus on avodas hatefillah, ahavas Yisroel, and genuine spiritual growth of each bochur, as further detailed in the mission statement.
“We are endeavoring to open a Yeshiva Gedolah, following in the spirit of Tomchei Tmimim, founded by the Rebbe Rashab in 5657. We truly hope and pray to Hashem, that with His help, the Talmidim will grow and greatly ascend, physically and spiritually, to be shining lights in the inner light of life: To illuminate their inner selves as well as all of their surroundings, until the fulfillment of the ultimate promise of Hashem’s revelation throughout the world, with the revelation of Moshiach,” the hanhala says.
