Shluchim from 17 Yeshivos Gather for High-Energy Yom Iyun
100 Talmidim Hashluchim from 17 Lubavitcher yeshivos gathered in Kfar Chabad for a full day of learning, guidance, and chizuk. Led by prominent mashpiim and shluchim, the Yom Iyun blended shiurim and farbrengens, leaving the young shluchim ready to return to their yeshivos with renewed purpose.
Following a month in which the Talmidim Hashluchim have been working energetically to uplift the atmosphere in Lubavitcher yeshivos throughout Eretz Yisroel, approximately one hundred Talmidim Hashluchim from seventeen Lubavitcher yeshivos across the Holy Land gathered at the “HaPansa’im” Hall in Kfar Chabad. There, they participated in a comprehensive Yom Iyun dedicated to the themes and inner work of their shlichus.
The Talmidim Hashluchim had the privilege of hearing guidance and insight from leading mashpiim, shluchim, and rabbonim. The day opened with the three pillars of Torah, Tefilla, and Tzedaka, including the recital of the Rebbe’s and Rebbetzin’s kapitel of Tehillim, distributing coins for tzedaka, and beginning with Dvar Malchus.
A Dvar Torah was delivered by Rabbi Meir Ashkenazi, Mara D’asra of Kfar Chabad and member of the Beis Din Rabbnei Chabad. He spoke about the great merit and spiritual elevation involved in going out on the Rebbe’s shlichus, highlighting a point from the Rebbe’s sicha regarding the posuk: “אֲשֶׁר לָקַחְתִּי מִיַּד הָאֱמֹרִי בְּחַרְבִּי וּבְקַשְׁתִּי” — “which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.” Rabbi Ashkenazi noted that Rashi explains the words “my sword and my bow” as “חכמתי ותפלתי” — “my wisdom and my prayer.” Even though the physical battle was fought by Shimon and Levi, the victory came through Yaakov’s spiritual weapons of Torah and Tefilla. He connected this to the primary role of the Temimim as “Chayalei Beis Dovid.”
A special surprise followed with the arrival of Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor, the Rebbe’s Head Shliach to Thailand. He spoke passionately about the tremendous influence of Talmidim Hashluchim, recalling from his own youth the remarkable impact made by the Student Shluchim who came to Australia. Next, Rabbi Zushe Wolf, editor of the book Toras HaShlichus, spoke warmly about the avoda of shlichus, and emphasized the magnitude of the privilege and the weight of the responsibility.
Mincha was davened in the replica of the Rebbe’s holy room (770) in Kfar Chabad, followed by a group photo. During the day, the Talmidim Hashluchim enjoyed a lavish meat lunch which naturally evolved into a special chassidishe farbrengen. Rabbi Yaakov Schwica, from the Kfar Chabad Yeshiva and a member of the Chabad Rabbonim Beis Din, addressed the farbrengen about the key to success in shlichus. He emphasized that above all, the Shluchim must serve as a genuine dugma chaya. He shared a story told by the Frierdiker Rebbe about a tzaddik who asked his chossid to “make chassidim” for him. When the chossid wondered how a simple person could accomplish such a task, the tzaddik answered: “Very simple. Behave properly, and since everyone knows you are my chossid, that will make chassidim for me.”
The Shluchim then split into two tracks under the theme “Ish Es Re’eihu Ya’azoru”. The Shluchim to Yeshivas Ketanos met under the direction of the Rechovos Talmidim Hashluchim, Kasriel Beck and Yossi Amar, while the Shluchim to Yeshivas Gedolos met under the guidance of Hatomim Mendy Edri, national coordinator of the new HaLikut initiative, a project to master the entire twenty-first volume of Likkutei Sichos.
Following Birchas Hamazon led by Shalom Ber Deren of Yeshivas Chazon Eliyahu, the evening session featured a lecture from the renowned speaker Rabbi Shneur Ashkenazi, the Rebbe’s Shliach in Rishon LeTzion. He opened with a personal story from thirty years ago, when he was a bochur in Shiur Beis in the Lod Yeshiva, illustrating the immense power a single sentence can carry — based on a comment his Rosh Mesivta, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Segal, had once told him. Drawing from his experience, he shared practical advice on how to speak so that students will truly listen: start with an engaging opening, develop ideas relevant to the students’ world, and always include a good story.
Toward the end of the day, the Talmidim Hashluchim heard a multimedia lecture by Rabbi Shneur Brod of the Rechovos Yeshiva. With exceptional skill, he presented seven practical tips for conducting a successful personal conversation with a student, outlining exactly what to do and what to avoid.
At the conclusion, the shluchim gathered for a group photo together with their special teshuros: “Kovetz Yud-Daled Kislev” regarding the Rebbe’s and Rebbetzin’s wedding, and “HaTalmidim HaShluchim,” a collection of sichos and letters regarding Student Shluchim. During the program, the Vaad leadership held several raffles for financial grants to be used for purchasing seforim at Kehos. The winners were Yoni Rivkin (Oholei Temimim), Mendy Mizrachi (Nachalas Har Chabad), Shalom Ber Deren (Chazon Eliyahu, Tel Aviv), and Levi Austin (Toras Emes, Yerushalayim).
The participants expressed heartfelt thanks to the director of the Vaad, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Kanelsky, for the tremendous investment in organizing the program and for his thoughtful attention to every detail—both in gashmiyus and ruchniyus—to ensure the seminar’s success. Several Shluchim noted that the program gave them a great deal of strength, exceeding their expectations in how well-planned and inspiring it was.
