Rabbi Liraz Zeira, a campus shliach in Nachlaot, Yerushalayim, who was seriously injured yesterday from an old Syrian landmine while on an operational mission in Syria, woke up today.
According to reports, Rabbi Zeira had been preparing an outpost for Yom Kippur when he jumped from a tank, unintentionally triggering an old mine. He was airlifted to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
Today, around midday, Rabbi Zeira awoke and reached full consciousness. Although still weak and tired, he began to communicate with those around him. “I want to get up and dance,” Rabbi Zeira said in his first words upon waking.
Together with some family members, Rabbi Zeira managed to daven Shacharis, converse, and sing a joyous niggun. He was greatly moved to hear about the wave of tefillos and love that had poured in from across the world since his injury.
His family expressed gratitude to Hashem for the open miracle. At the same time, they noted that the road to a full recovery is still long.
Please continue saying Tehillim for a complete and speedy recovery for Liraz Tzvi HaLevi ben Sarah Yehudis.
