A new sefer, “Semichas Raboseinu”, has just been published by Rabbi Menachem Mendel HaKohen Kahn, Rosh Kollel Maayan Yisroel in Flatbush and a respected Torah publisher.
The sefer brings together all the rulings of our Rebbeim on the halachos of Issur v’Heter—beginning with the Maggid of Mezritch, through the Alter Rebbe, the Tzemach Tzedek, and subsequent Rebbeim. These are the halachos studied in the traditional “Semicha” track, learned by hundreds of Chabad bochurim and Yungerlait each year.
Rabbi Kahn’s first sefer, “Keset Sofer im Piski HaRav”, compiled the rulings of our Rebbeim on the halachos of STa”M, designed as a practical guide for Chabad sofrim to know the Halacha according to our mesorah. It achieved exceptional success—selling out twice, and now in preparation for a third edition.
In Semichas Raboseinu, Rabbi Kahn has invested meticulous effort in clarity, precision, and organization. The result is a volume that allows students to access the rulings of our Rebbeim on the key topics of Issur v’Heter with ease. It promises to become an indispensable resource for the hundreds of bochurim beginning their Semicha studies each year, while also enriching the broader Chabad bookshelf.
The sefer is now available at leading Judaica stores, and can also be purchased directly through the publisher’s website.

Didn’t R’ Leibel Kaplan and his son do this already? What is the difference/ chidush of this sefer?
Several differences —
1. This Sefer brings the psakim of ALL the Rebbeim
2. It is more complete.
3. It is more concise and pedagogical.
4. The second part of the Sefer is comprised of the original texts (Tzemach Tzedek, Divrei Nechmia…).
This Sefer is designed to be learnt alongside the Shulchan Aruch, not as an independent Sefer.
That said, the author does mention Rabbi Kaplan’s Sefer in his introduction.
Looking forward to this, I received the Keses as a present and was thoroughly impressed. I’m sure this is of the same standard.
