Over 200 vehicles in the Mossey and Rockland County area joined a lively Chanukah menorah parade on Sunday night.
The parade, organized by talmidim hashluchim to Mesivta Lubavitch Monsey, together with the bochurim in yeshiva, began at the Tzemach Tzedek Anash Shul, where all the cars lined up. Those who didn’t yet have menorahs on their cars were helped to set them up and assemble them on the cars before the parade officially departed at 7:15 PM.
The parade drove through local streets and busy highways, spreading the light and joy of Chanukah to thousands of passersby and cars, with a major pirsumei nisa. The parade concluded at the large Palisades Center Mall by Macy’s, where over a thousand people had already gathered for a grand menorah lighting.
The beautiful celebration featured live music by the talented Meir Borenstein. A dedicated children’s program was held for the hundreds of children in attendance, beginning with the recitation of the Twelve Pesukim and divrei hisorerus in connection with the horrific Sydney massacre.
The children also enjoyed delicious donuts, pekelach, and raffles, as well as a magic and illusions performance by Joshy K. Overall, the crowd was filled with joy, excitement, and the true spirit of Chanukah.
The entertainer, Joshy K., who is Jewish, shared that he was so inspired and deeply moved by the event that he committed to making sure to light his own menorah when he returned home.
“This was a beautiful way to bring the light of Chanukah into the streets,” said one participant. “Seeing dozens of cars with menorahs driving through the streets, with families and children celebrating along the route, was truly inspiring.”
The event was made possible thanks to the support of local sponsors, including Amor Fine Jewelry, Evergreen, and Vies n’ Fries, among others.
