Rocket Strikes Shul Roof in Kherson
Staff at the Kherson shul were preparing food for the needy when a rocket, part of a Russian cluster bomb, struck the shul roof; miraculously, no one was hurt.
Staff at the Kherson shul were busy preparing food for needy families when a Russian missile, part of a cluster bomb, struck the building’s roof. Miraculously, although the shul sustained damage, no one was hurt.
The city’s shliach and rabbi, Rabbi Yossi Wolf, said, “If the missile had moved a few meters forward and struck the roof of the shul hall instead of the adjacent lobby wall, we would be dealing with a completely different event.”
Just over a month ago, his car was struck directly by a Russian drone, and he was miraculously saved.
The Jewish community of Kherson said that it will not stop its activities and continues to serve as a center of support and spiritual strength for the city’s residents.
Rabbi Meir Stambler, chairman of the Jewish Communities in Ukraine, said, “We thank Hashem for the great miracle that happened to Rabbi Wolf and to the shul. The rabbi, together with the Rebbe’s shluchim throughout the country, are remaining with mesiras nefesh despite the challenges.”
The Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine (FJCU) said, “This is the fifth strike on the Jewish community in Ukraine in the past two months, at the hands of the Russians. Recently, the shul in Odessa was also hit by a missile; the home of Rabbi Moshe Weber, one of the Rebbe’s shluchim in Dnipro, sustained damage; the cemetery in Pervomaisk was damaged; and the car of Rabbi Yossi Wolf, the rabbi of Kherson, was also struck. There must be an end to Russian terror, which causes loss of life and extensive damage throughout Ukraine. We pray for peace and for the Geula.”
