Rabbi Shalom Gurewicz a longtime member of the Chicago Lubavitch community who recently moved to Pomona NY, passed away Shabbos, Yud Nissan.
He was 56 years old.
Rabbi Gurewicz was a rabbinical coordinator for the Kof-K Kosher supervision in Chicago and the Midwest, and recently moved to Pomona to continue working for the organization there in a greater capacity.
News of his demise sent shockwaves across from Australia to Eretz Yisrael to the United States, his many family members and friends reeling from his untimely passing.
He is survived by wife Chaya Sara, and children Chana Feigel Hyams – London, England; Dov Ber – Holywood, Florida; Rikki Honickman – Chicago; Layle Kenigsberg – New Jersey; Mendel, Menucha – Pomona, NY; and grandchildren.
He is survived by his parents Rabbi Shmuel and Chava Gurewicz – Melbourne, Australia; and his siblings Shaul – Kfar Chabad, Israel; Hadassa Neparstek – Melbourne, Australia; Shloimy – Ashdod, Eretz Yisrael, and Chagit Rimler – Melbourne.
