Rabbi Avrohom Shmuel Bukiet, a mashpia in Kfar Chabad and one of the ‘shluchei kodesh‘ chosen by the Rebbe to travel to Eretz Yisroel, passed away Wednesday, 5 Adar, 5781.
He was 70 years old and was recently infected with coronavirus.
Rabbi Bukiet was born in the United States on the 4th of Adar 5711 to Harav Chaim Meir and Esther Bukiet. As a Bochur he studied in Tomchei Temimim in Montreal under the legendary mashpia Harav Volf Greenglass, a close friend of his father.
After his marriage to Feiga Bracha Wilhelm, the family settled in Crown Heights. In 5738, the couple was chosen by the Rebbe to serve as one of the ‘shluchei kodesh‘ to Eretz Yisroel.
Rabbi Bukiet served as a mashpia in of the Yisroel Aryeh Leib Shul (Hamiklat) in Kfar Chabad and the Ohr Simcha Yeshiva. In 5777, he was appointed a member of the vaad ruchni in Kfar Chabad.
He authored numerous books on Tanya and the teachings of the Rebbe.
He is survived by his wife Feiga Bracha, and their children: Rabbi Shneur Zalman Bukiet – Zhytomyr, Ukraine, Rabbi Yisroel Bukiet – Salvador, Brazil, Rabbi Sholom Yaakov Bukiet – Haifa, Mrs. Chaya Sarah Mann – Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Asher Bukiet – Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Yechiel Dovid Bukiet – Kfar Chabad, and grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings Mrs. Rochel Stillman – Los Angeles, Rabbi Yosef Bukiet – Los Angeles, CA, Rabbi Levi Bukiet – Chicago, IL, Mrs. Chaya Bukiet – Crown Heights, Rabbi Alter Bukiet – Boston, MA, Mrs. Sarah Tzirel Kramer – Montreal, and Rabbi Zalman Bukiet – Boca Raton, FL.
