Rabbi Aharon HaKohen Blesofsky, a resident of Crown Heights, a chassidisher baal menagen, and a member of the Vaad Mimush Hora’os HaRebbe, passed away on Shabbos, 6 Elul.
He was 74 years old.
He was born in Williamsburg in the month of Iyar 5711 (1951) to Rabbi Shneur Zalman Blesofsky.
In his youth, he learned in the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva on Bedford and Dean, and later in the Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva in Newark. In 5733, he transferred to the central Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva – within the Rebbe’s daled amos – at 770.
Upon reaching marriageable age, he married Shterna Sara, the daughter of the chossid Reb Chaim Horowitz (“Chaim Tashkenter”), and settled in Crown Heights.
He served as a member of the Vaad Bedek HaBayis at 770, as well as on the Vaad Mimush Hora’os HaRebbe.
Over the years, he merited composing a number of niggunim in honor of the Rebbe’s birthday. Two of them were chosen by the Lubavitch Niggunim Committee and were sung at the Rebbe’s farbrengens: the niggun Ohev Hashem Shaarei Tzion in 5748, and the niggun Yehi Shem Hashem in 5774.
He also operated a unique YouTube channel on the internet, where he uploaded distinctive Chabad niggunim that he recorded – with precise nuances as he received them in mesorah – as well as niggunim that he composed himself.
He is survived by his children, R Avremel Blesofsky, Scotch Plains, NJ; R’ Levi Blesofsky, Yorba Linda, CA; Chanie Kravitz – Los Angeles, CA; R’ Shmuly Blesofsky, Crown Heights; R’ Mendy Blesofsky – Crown Heights; Zeldie Blesofsky, Crown Heights; R’ Boruch Shalom Blesofsky, Crown Heights; and many grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sara.

He was mekabel everyone besever panim yafos.
When you didn’t return a smile he didn’t let you go until you smiled.
Always had something nice to say. Always had a joke or גלייך ווערטול to uplift your mood.
Would joke about his own pain.
I observed him at a Shiva tirelessly working to get a smile out of one of the avelim.
As a kohen he would also give you a big heartfelt Bracha באהבה
True to his nickname אהרון כהן גדול
