Public Lighting in Lubavitch Streets Was Not a Menorah

A public lighting in the streets of Lubavitch in the middle of Chanukah with the participation of shliach Rabbi Gavriel Gordon looked everything like a Menorah lighting. But it was something else entirely.

After years of work, major infrastructure work to connect the village of Lubavitch to the natural gas grid has been completed.

The Governor of the Smolensk region, alongside the CEO of the regional gas company, presided over a ceremony marking the opening of the new pipeline, which will now deliver natural gas to homes throughout the village.

Rabbi Gavriel Gordon, the local Shliach, was a guest of honor at the official government ceremony. Following the proceedings, Rabbi Gordon hosted the government delegation, treating them to a celebratory reception and taking them on a tour of the village’s special sites.
