The popular podcast Untold Stories of the Torah by Rabbi Shmuel Aber has launched its third season, opening with a deep and compelling exploration of one of Tanach’s most overlooked figures: Beniyahu ben Yehoyadah. Known to many only in passing from the pesukim, Beniyahu emerges in this new season as a central figure whose life intersects with some of the most dramatic moments in the era of Dovid Hamelech and Shlomo Hamelech.
Since its debut, Untold Stories of the Torah has built a growing audience by focusing on lesser-discussed narratives, personalities, and perspectives within Tanach. Rather than retelling well-known stories, the podcast is dedicated to uncovering layers that are often missed, drawing from a wide range of Meforshim and Gemaros to present a richer and more nuanced understanding. Listeners have responded strongly to this approach, with the podcast recently reaching over 75,000 listens and generating sustained engagement across its episodes.
“Navi is one of the most under-studied topics in Torah,” says Rabbi Aber. “Most people have little to no knowledge of the basic stories in the Navi, and because so many stories are very difficult to understand without Chazal and Chassidus, unfortunately, many mischaracterizations of the Tzadikim mentioned in Tanach have become prevalent.”
The new season promises a combination of careful textual analysis, engaging storytelling, and thought-provoking questions that challenge listeners to rethink what they assumed they already knew.
