A large-scale protest by the broader chassidisher communities against the new IDF draft laws has been postponed after heads of mosdos and roshei yeshivos expressed concerns about it disrupting the beginning of the zman period.

The massive “Zaakas HaGolah – Cry of Diaspora” protest, originally scheduled for Wednesday at Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza, has been postponed and is likely to be relocated to Prospect Park in the coming weeks.
The demonstration, which was expected to draw over 20,000 participants from Brooklyn’s chassidisher communities, would have required significant road closures around Grand Army Plaza and caused heavy traffic on Eastern Parkway. Local authorities have now confirmed their willingness to accommodate the gathering at the larger Prospect Park location, which could potentially allow for an expanded demonstration.
“Many calls have been received from the heads of institutions and yeshivas, and directly from the Rebbes and community leaders, that such a massive gathering taking place at the beginning of the zman will have a direct impact on the important beginning of yeshiva zman period,” organizers stated in their announcement.
The protest was planned in response to the IDF’s preparation to issue 5,000 draft orders to yeshiva bochurim, including many from Lubavitch yeshivos. Currently, over 800 bochurim who failed to report for previous orders have been classified as draft dodgers, with arrest warrants issued despite previous agreements with Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government.
