Peaking ‘Behind the Scenes’ of the Rebbe’s Early Sichos
Anyone studying the thousands of the Rebbe’s farbrengens has certainly encountered sichos whose meaning is unclear or references to obscure events. In a new publication, an initial attempt is made to reveal what goes on behind the scenes of these sichos.

Anyone studying the thousands of farbrengens of the Rebbe has certainly, at times, encountered excerpts of sichos whose meaning is not entirely clear, or references to obscure events.
In a fascinating new booklet, “Mei’achorei Hakla’im,” an initial attempt is made “to decipher some of these paragraphs; to open a narrow ‘crack between the lines’ of the sichos and reveal what goes on behind the scenes of these sichos.”
Examples include the time when Shlomo Carlbach tried explaining in a yechidus with the Rebbe his reasoning for veering from the path of Shulchan Aruch for the sake of kiruv; when a wealthy lawyer promised the Rebbe $10,000 to save his daughter’s life; when young Emanuel Shuchat “threatened” to leave Tomchei Temimim after being treated unfairly by the hanhala; and many more fascinating stories that shed new light on parts of the Rebbe’s sichos that may have previously seemed obscure.
The publication covers a selection of sichos from 5711–5715 and is a printout from a series of files that will, with Hashem’s help, be published to review the “behind the scenes” of the sichos throughout the years of the Rebbe’s nesius.
Anyone who has a piece of information, a background story, or anything else that could help understand one of the Rebbe’s sichos is asked to send it to [email protected].

With all due respect, this Teshura is poorly researched, and the work is quite shoddy.
I will just point out one thing:
Since you mention the story with Rabbi Emmanuel Shochat, it should be noted that the Teshura could not even get the names of the Bochurim right. THey put in there, Reb Meir Zajac, who got married that year at the age of 22, and could not have learned in Bedford and Dean at the time. (the correct name is my grandfather Reb Leibel Zajac).
This is a small mistake, but I am just using it as a example of what one will find through the Teshura.
There is the famous story with Joe Robinson who paid for 770s down payment, that he sponsored the printing of sdei chemed, and the Rebbe had a random volume chosen and it was about the Daled Minim and the Rebbe said a Sicha on it,
This is fascinating. Thank you for sharing this.
this looks fascinating…any chance it will be made available to the English reading public? Our schools don’t do a good job of teaching our children to understand Lashon Hakodesh at this level, so making this available in English would truly enhance everyone’s understanding of the Sichos…
