Bochurim of Mesivta Oholei Torah took part in an unforgettable Yud Tes Kislev farbrengen, arranged by the yeshiva’s shiur gimmel Bochurim.
The bochurim transformed the Zal into a magnificent ballroom with drapes, lighting, and an extravagant table display. A special Teshura was distributed in honor of the farbrengen.
The Farbrengen opened up with the emcee of the evening, Mashpia in Yeshiva Rabbi Shimon Rivkin, who encouraged all Bochurim to utilize the special kochos of the day. The traditional Minhag of reciting the Yud Tes Kislev story was divided among three Bochurim, Shneur Zalman Lipsker, Yanki Strassburg and Avrohom Zushe Goldberg, each one representing their respective shiur.
Rabbi Nachman Yosef Twerski, Maggid Shiur and acclaimed Mechanech, honed in on the power of Tanya quoting Reb Yehudah Leib haKohen that “Tanya is a spiritual ketores for all the ailments of ikvisa d’mishicha“. He stressed that especially in our times, where there are billions of dollars being poured into technology and entertainment, creating a real and tangible temptation for young bochurim, chasidus and tanya provide one the power to overcome these challenges and live a life of pure ruchnius.
The guest speaker was Rabbi Motty Lipsker. He stressed how the Alter Rebbe was the first to discuss and focus on the nefesh habahamis at such great length, pointing out its powers and purpose in a Yid. He elaborated on this point with many stories and lessons.
The farbrengen concluded with a chalukas hashas, and in traditional Oholei Torah fashion – spontaneous dancing!
A special thanks goes to Hanhalas Hayeshiva Rabbi Moshe Silman and Rabbi Zalman Laufer for their unwavering dedication, and to the Bochurim who invested tremendous effort and scaled great heights to make sure the farbrengen was a success, Mentshe Bluming, Ahron Elberg, Levi Elberg, Sruly Goldstein and Levi Paris.
