Brothers Celebrate 26th Anniversary of Purim Miracle

26 years since being shot while traveling to bring the joy of Purim to soldiers, brothers Rabbis Mendy and Shmuel Ofen—the Rebbe’s Shluchim to the IDF—held an uplifting Seudas Hoda’ah and Farbrengen with soldiers, Anash, and bochurim.

A momentous Seudas Hoda’ah was held this week to thank Hashem for the miraculous rescue of brothers Rabbi Mendy and Rabbi Shmuel Ofen, the Rebbe’s dedicated Shluchim to the IDF and security forces.

The gathering marked 26 years since Purim 5760, when the two brothers were injured at the Tarkumiya checkpoint near Chevron while en route to do Mivtza Purim with troops stationed in the area. B”H, they were saved from the attack, made a full and complete recovery, and have since spent decades selflessly continuing their shlichus with IDF soldiers.

The thanksgiving celebration took place during a festive Shushan Purim seudah and farbrengen hosted by their father, the prominent Mashpia Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Ofen. The room was packed with Tmimim, Chassidim, and Anshei Maaseh, while a steady stream of IDF soldiers and commanders arrived to participate and share in the joy throughout the entire night.

The farbrengen was lively, deeply inspiring, and forward-looking. In light of the current security situation, the participants took on many hachlatos tovos, b’ezras Hashem, resolving to significantly expand the Rebbe’s mivtzoim among IDF soldiers on the front lines and bases. The gathering concluded with an energized commitment to increase in the study and hafotzas HaChassidus, preparing the world for the coming of Moshiach Tzidkenu.
