Nurse Helps Injured Bochur Light Menorah
Seeing how much he wanted to kindle a real menorah, a male nurse helped Leibel Lazarov go outside the hospital to fulfill the mitzvah. In a surprise, the nurse shared that he’s Jewish – and he put on tefillin for the first time.
In a social media post, Texas shliach Rabbi Yossi Lazarof shared a heartwarming episode that involves his son, Leibel Lazarov, who was injured in the Bondi Beach terrorist attack:
“Being that Leibel is unable to light a menorah with fire inside his hospital room, one of the incredible nurses said that he would be more than willing to facilitate Leibel to be able to light the Menorah for the first time this Chanukah. He arranged to completely disconnect all the machines and make them mobile so Leibel can go outside to light a real Menorah.
“Ultimately, he shared that he is Jewish, from America and hasn’t lit the Menorah since he was a young kid with his grandparents. He also had never had a Bar Mitzvah. One Mitzvah led to another and a beautiful bar mitzvah and menorah lighting took place!
“We are experiencing miracles every single day and we are grateful for all the prayers and support from people around the world.
“Please continue praying and doing good deeds for the complete and speedy recovery of Yehuda Leib Ben Manya.”
