Whistler, British Columbia, is world-renowned as North America’s #1 ski resort. The town welcomes nearly 5 million visitors annually, who come to enjoy skiing and snow sports on its majestic mountains and in its pristine forests. Both in the summer and winter, Whistler attracts millions of visitors to ski its legendary slopes, hike its breathtaking trails, or take in the stunning scenery.
Now, the fire of Yiddishkeit is coming to the town, with the arrival of Rabbi Schneur & Bina Druk (née Gorman) together with their children Mussia and Mendel, as the new shluchim.
Appointed by Rabbi Yitzchak & Henia Wineberg (who were sent by the Rebbe to B.C. just over 50 years ago) and Rabbi Dovid & Chaya Rosenfeld, the Druks will serve the growing Jewish population in Whistler & Squamish and a steady flow of Jewish tourists from around the globe.
“With the nearest Jewish community, Kosher food, Mikvah, or Jewish school over two hours away, the need for a local presence is clear, and the growing community is ready and waiting,” Rabbi Druk says.
“We look forward to this historic and exciting new chapter for Jewish life in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor. We will get straight to work creating a warm space where locals and visitors can connect through Shabbos dinners, holiday events, Hebrew school, Torah classes, and personal encounters.”
