No Vacation from Torah: Bochurim Shine in Summer Learning
While most yeshivas slow down in Av, the yeshiva at 770 was alive with learning. Through the ‘Yissachar and Zevulun” project, hundreds of bochurim dedicated themselves to five rigorous study tracks, capped off with tests and scholarships totaling tens of thousands of dollars.

While in most yeshivas the month of Av brings with it a break in the regular learning schedule, in 770 the picture is entirely different: the atmosphere of Torah learning doesn’t stop for a moment. The temimim continue with diligence and perseverance as if nothing has changed. In fact, during this period, when everyone around is on vacation, the special devotion of the talmidei ha’kvutza stands out even more, as they choose to invest all their energy in Torah learning.
This spirit is especially expressed in the “Yissachar and Zevulun” project – another full month of uninterrupted effort, during which hundreds of talmidim followed five demanding study tracks. At the end of the month, a comprehensive test was given, followed by a moving scholarship distribution ceremony in 770. Tens of thousands of dollars were awarded to the bochurim – both as a reward for their efforts and as an incentive to continue their toil in Torah even further.
This month was unique in that it marked the completion of the year’s study material across all the project’s tracks. After months of steady diligence, the bochurim reached the finish line, and are now preparing for the highlight event: the general final exam, which will take place, be’ezras Hashem, on Chof-Beis Elul. This test will cover all the material learned from the beginning of the year, serving as the ultimate milestone in the effort and perseverance that have become the hallmark of 770.
The financial support provided by the generous “Zevuluns” allows each talmid to be free from financial concerns and devote his time fully to learning nigleh and chassidus. In this way, the unique partnership of Yissachar and Zevulun comes to life, turning Torah study in 770 into a phenomenon with no parallel in the yeshiva world.
A Few Words About the Yissachar-Zevulun Program
The goal of all the learning tracks is to allow each bochur to devote his full time and energy exclusively to Torah study, utilizing every moment of his time in the Central Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva at Beis Moshiach – 770 – without needing to worry about any material matters.
How does it work? Five serious study tracks with year-long goals have been established. At the end of each month, an exam is held, and at the beginning of the following month, each student receives a respectable monetary scholarship.
Track One: Focuses on hemshech samech vov, so that throughout the year the students complete all the maamarim of the hemshech samech vov.
Track Two: Dedicated to halachic studies, where the entire chelek alef of Shulchan Aruch by the Alter Rebbe is learned—in practical halacha.
Track Three: Concentrates on “Girsah” studies, with one page a day, and b’ezras Hashem, by the end of the year the entire masechtas Ketubos and Moed Katan will be completed.
Track Four: Focused on geulah umoshiach studies, so that during the year all of Lekutei Sichos on geulah umoshiach are covered.
Track Five: Study portions from chelek beis, gimel, daled of Shulchan Aruch, ensuring that by year’s end they emerge with a comprehensive understanding of the laws of Shabbos and all the yomim tovim in practical halacha.
