Family and friends of Reb Menachem Nissim a”h gathered on his first yahrzeit to begin writing a new Sefer Torah in his memory.

Rabbi Menachem Mordechai Nissim, was a long-time resident of Crown Heights, who managed the children’s toy store on the corner of Union and Kingston for many years.

He was a talmid chacham who would spend his spare time learning and davening and was an address for halachic advice. He would often make a siyum mesechta in 770 during the nine days.

He passed away last year on Beis Nissan, the 100th yahrzeit of the Rebbe Rashab.
