Ninth Children’s Sefer Torah to be Completed This Year

In light of the situation in Eretz Yisroel, it was decided that the Ninth Children’s Sefer Torah will be completed IYH on Chof Av 5785. In fact, the first Children’s Torah played a role in the destruction of the Iraqi nuclear reactor in 5741 (1981).

Ahead of the new year, the committee for the writing of the children’s sefer Torah announced that they plan to complete the writing of the ninth sefer Torah during the year 5785.

The decision was made particularly in light of the current security situation in Eretz Yisroel and based on the Rebbe’s words regarding the special zchus of shemira connected with the writing of a sefer Torah dedicated to children.

A special meeting was held in the office of Rabbi Yitzchak Yehuda Yaroslavsky, the secretary of the Chabad Rabbinical Committee. At the meeting, the chairman of the committee for writing the sefer Torah, Rabbi Shmuel Greisman, announced the committee’s decision. Also present at the meeting was R’ Tal Nir, one of the most prominent and energetic activists in the campaign.

The committee headquarters expects that this announcement will add great momentum and enthusiasm to the registration campaign, encouraging increased participation from Chabad community members, yeshiva students, and women and girls, aiming to register a large number of children so that the completion ceremony can be held on Thursday, Chof Menachem Av, 5785.

The Rebbe launched this unique campaign on Yud Aleph Nissan 5741 (1981), emphasizing the special need for a unique bracha in the world.

A month later, on Shabbos Parshas Bechukosai, the Rebbe explicitly pointed out that the world’s situation was deteriorating to the point where one madman could “press the button and thereby destroy the entire world, chas vesholom…” The Rebbe determined that the solution to this situation lies in increasing achdus, explaining that this is expressed through a sefer Torah whose letters are dedicated to children.

When the Israeli Air Force bombed the nuclear reactor in Iraq before Shavuos, everyone understood the Rebbe’s intent…

It is important to note that purchasing letters in these communal sifrei Torah, whether for children or for the entire Jewish people, is considered a zchus for geula, bracha, shmira, and refuah. The Rebbe connected this to the possuk in Daniel (12:1): “At that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise, and there will be a time of trouble such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued.”

The hope is that this very decision will be the final blow that brings the geulah, and soon we will dance with the Torah to welcome our righteous Moshiach.
