Another young couple has joined the Rebbe’s army of shluchim, announcing their move to Martinique, a stunning island known for its breathtaking scenery and thriving tourism industry. Rabbi Reuven and Chaya Naparstak will be establishing a Chabad presence there, turning the island into a shining beacon of Torah and Chassidus.
The couple was appointed as shluchim by Rabbi Mendel Zarchy, the Head Shliach to the Caribbean Islands, with the approval of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch. Upon their arrival, they will begin setting up a Chabad House to serve the island’s Jewish community, which consists of more than 200 families. Their first initiatives will include opening a kosher restaurant to provide meals for both the local Jewish population and the many tourists who visit the island. They will also focus on creating a kosher meal program for Jewish children attending public schools, ensuring the availability of Jewish education and nourishment.
In addition to their work with families and children, they plan to engage with young people through various programs, offer Torah classes and Jewish learning opportunities, and establish a kosher mikvah for women built to the highest standards. Rabbi Reuven described their mission as reaching every Jew on the island and providing all the necessary resources for living a Torah-true Jewish life. He emphasized their broader vision to teach Torah and Chassidus, spread light, and ultimately prepare the island to welcome Moshiach Tzidkeinu in the very near future.
The recent tragedy of the murder of the beloved shliach Rabbi Tzvi Hacohen Kogen, הי”ד, has left a profound impact on the community of shluchim and Klal Yisrael as a whole. Rabbi Reuven reflected on this loss, saying that “in the face of darkness, we must increase in light, Torah, and mitzvos to fill the void and honor his memory.”
To support their efforts in establishing this new shlichus in Martinique, the couple has launched a fundraising campaign. Contributions will help them turn this vision into a reality.
