On Gimmel Tammuz, Chabad of Southern Nevada announced that Rabbi Mendy and Gitty Harlig would be joining the team of shluchim in the city, under head shluchim Rabbi Shea and Dina Harlig.
The new shluchim will be working in the central area of town, strengthening the Chabad presence in the area. They will also be learning and connecting with the Jews that are already affiliated with Chabad of Southern Nevada.
The shlichus will also focus on creating a community for the families of the children who attend the Chabad Day School, Desert Torah Academy (with over 350 students enrolled B”H) making sure their needs in Yiddishkeit are being attended to.
Announced today, the 26th yom hilula of the Rebbe, the new shluchim will be moving to Los Vegas towards the end of the summer. To help them cover the costs of their start-up, they are raising a sum of $65,000.
In the letter detailing the observances for the Frierdiker Rebbe’s yom hilula, the Rebbe writes: “In the morning, before prayer, charity should be given to those institutions that are related to our Nasi, my revered father‐in‐law, of sainted memory. Donations should be made on behalf of oneself and on behalf of each member of one’s family. The same should be done before Minchah.”
On the day of Gimmel Tammuz, it is surely appropriate to donate to furthering the Rebbe’s shlichus.
