Accompanied by a visual presentation, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Greenfeld delivered an in-depth shiur about the halachic issues around building a Sukkah structure in the Beis Hamikdash. The shiur revealed details of a letter written to the Rebbe and the Rebbe’s repsonse.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Greenfeld delivered an in-depth shiur, based on a letter from the Rebbe written 80 years ago in Tishrei 5705 (1944). The shiur focused on a fascinating halachic question: How was it permissible to build a sukkah in the azara of the Beis Hamikdash if there is a prohibition to build a wood structure there?
At the beginning of the lecture, Rabbi Greenfeld revealed the full letter of Rabbi Shmuel Pardes, which had not been known to the public until now. This letter, which contained an original Torah insight on the topic of constructing a sukkah in the Mikdash, was the catalyst for the Rebbe’s detailed response.
After thoroughly studying Rabbi Pardes’ chidush, Rabbi Greenfeld shifted to the main part of the shiur, where he focused on the Rebbe’s approach and insights on the matter. During the shiur, he presented the Rebbe’s unique analysis, emphasizing the halachic and conceptual chidushim that emerged from his response.
The lecture, accompanied by a visual presentation, took place in the event hall of Oholei Torah and was delivered to the Bochurim staying in the Rebbe’s shechuna for the month of Tishrei.
