A moving celebration was held in honor of the opening of a new Zal for Yeshivas Chabad-Lubavitch Berlin, dedicated in memory of the beloved and unforgettable Rabbi Nachum Ber Pressman AH, the Rebbe’s Shliach to Potsdam and the state of Brandenburg. His third yahrtzeit will be observed on Hey Adar.

The event was attended by rabbanim and shluchim from across Germany, alongside many members of the Berlin and Potsdam Jewish communities.

Speaking at the event, Chief Rabbi of Berlin, Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal, addressed the gathering in tribute to Rabbi Pressman AH. He also noted the striking transformation of the yeshiva building, which had previously belonged to the Nazis (ym”s), saying, “The darkness has been transformed into light.”

Another speaker who deeply moved the audience was Rabbi Elisha Pavlotsky, head of Beis Berlin Lubavitch (BBL) for Russian speakers and director of the yeshiva.

The Menahel Ruchni, Rabbi Yechiel Weber, farbrenged with the bochurim on the theme of “V’hachai yiten el libo” and recounted the incredible hashgacha pratis behind the establishment of the new Zal. He shared how a cherished mekurav of Rabbi Pressman, who now lives near the picturesque yeshiva campus, played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to fruition.

Also present at the event were Rabbi Meir Bastomski, father of Mrs. Pressman, and her brothers, Reb Mendy Pressman and Reb Alexander Buchman, the latter of whom is a generous benefactor ensuring the yeshiva’s success.

Established last year, the Berlin Yeshiva is accepting enrollment for the upcoming 5786 academic year and proudly inaugurated its new Zal and an expanded seforim library. The yeshiva offers bochurim an opportunity to immerse themselves in Torah study in a warm, chassidishe, and homelike atmosphere.
