New App Helps Track and Strengthen Daily Torah Learning
You sit down to learn. Thirty minutes of Chassidus before Shacharis, Rambam during lunch, maybe a few more minutes of Chassidus before bed. A week later, it’s already fuzzy.
You sit down to learn. Thirty minutes of Chassidus before Shacharis, Rambam during lunch, maybe a few more minutes of Chassidus before bed.
A week later, it’s already fuzzy. Was that three days in a row or four? Did you finish that perek of Tanya on Tuesday or last week? Where exactly did you stop in that Masechta?
Most people learning daily have no real way to track it. Some use notebooks. Others try habit-tracking apps meant for workouts and water intake. A few try spreadsheets. None of them really fit the way Torah learning works.
Introducing Hasmada
Hasmada is a new app built specifically for tracking Torah learning.
The idea is simple: log a learning session in seconds – choose a sefer, enter the time, tap save – and the app tracks the rest. Streaks, progress through Seforim, weekly stats, and learning patterns over time.
The app was created by developer Mendel Gottlieb after running into the same issue himself.
“I was learning different Seforim and constantly losing track of where I was,” he explains. “The apps I tried didn’t understand Torah learning. They don’t know what a Daf is, and they definitely don’t know that Shabbos isn’t a missed day.”
Hasmada uses the Hebrew calendar to automatically recognize Shabbos and Yom Tov, so learning streaks aren’t broken.
Built for the way people actually learn
The app comes with a library of Seforim ready to track – Chumash, Mishnayos, Gemara, Tanya, Likkutei Sichos, Rambam, Kitzur Shulchan Aruch, and more.
For Chitas and Rambam, the app automatically detects where you are in the cycle based on today’s date – so you can start tracking without any setup.
Users can also add their own Seforim (and even share them with others)and track progress by Daf, Perek, Siman, or custom sections.
Over time, the app builds a picture of a person’s learning habits – minutes learned, progress through Seforim, and streaks of consistent לימוד. When a Sefer is completed, the app records the Siyum as part of the learning history.
The core features – logging learning, tracking seforim, and stats – are completely free. A premium option is available for those who want deeper analytics and additional tools.
