Mural Art Menorah and Car Parade Illuminated San Francisco

On the eighth night of Chanukah, a beautiful art mural Menorah was lit outside San Francisco City Hall, following a record-breaking Car Menorah Parade with lively dancing that brightened the City Hall plaza.

San Francisco was aglow on the eighth night of Chanukah as the city witnessed its largest-ever Car Menorah Parade, featuring over 35 vehicles topped with menorahs. The parade concluded with the lighting of a stunning Mural Art Menorah outside City Hall, drawing a large crowd to celebrate the festival of lights in a spirit of unity and joy.

This year’s parade included the Mitzvah Cable Car, that captured the hearts of participants and onlookers as it ascended Fillmore Street. The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by the collaborative effort of over 25 families who painted the Mural Art Menorah, making it a true testament to community spirit.

Following the menorah lighting, the crowd broke into a lively Chasidic dance, filling the plaza outside City Hall with music and energy. “Seeing the joy on people’s faces as we spread the light of Chanukah throughout the city was truly special,” shared Rabbi Nosson Potash, Shliach of Chabad of Cole Valley and one of the event organizers.

The parade and menorah lighting also caught the attention of city officials. Matthew, from Mayor-Elect Daniel Lurie’s transition team, wrote, “I saw the parade going up Fillmore Street—it was wonderful and truly joyful! Wishing you a very happy Hanukkah and a fantastic New Year. Looking forward to all the collaborations ahead in 2025.”

This record-breaking event showcased the power of achdus as local Shluchim and Rabbi’s and community members united to bring the light of Chanukah to San Francisco. With each candle kindled, the message of hope and resilience shone brighter, leaving participants inspired and uplifted
