Mrs. Rivkah Karp, wife of R’ Avrohom Karp who lived in Montreal and later Crown Heights, passed away on Motzei Shabbos, 11 Nissan.

She was 90 years old.

Mrs. Karp was born in Varonish, Russia, to her parents, R’ Zev Avrohom and Shaina Chaya Slavin. After the war, the family escaped to Paris where she married R’ Avrohom Karp, who arrived there from Poland.

Eventually, they emigrated to Montreal, where they raised a beautiful family of Mechanchim and educators.

Mrs. Karp supported her husband for many decades in his learning and Torah endeavors. The famous Kol Avrohom tapes, containing the entire Shas, were recorded by her husband with the full support of his wife. When R’ Avrohom became ill towards the end of his life, Mrs. Karp transformed part of their home into a shul so her husband could continue davening with a minyan and giving his shiurim. The Kol Avrohom tape library was also founded with her involvement in every detail.

“She knew everything that was going on with each of her grandchildren,” her grandson Rabbi Shua Lustig told Anash.org, “she was very involved in everything that was going on in the family.”

Mrs. Karp spent every spare moment saying Tehillim, and was well known for her tznius and aidelkeit.

In the mid-90’s Mrs. Karp and her husband moved to Crown Heights. She was predeceased by her husband.

Shes survived by her children, Mrs. Rochel Lustig – Crown Heights, Mrs. Esti Loebenstein – Melbourne, Australia, Rabbi Yanky Karp – Crown Heights, Rabbi Velly Karp – Crown Heights, Rabbi Leibel Karp – Crown Heights and Rabbi Zalman Karp – Crown Heights.

Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.
