Mrs. Rivka Junik, a member of the Anash community of Antwerp, Belgium, and matriarch of a large Lubavitch family, passed away on Friday, 19 Shevat.

She was 87 years old.

Born in Leningrad to Rabbi Baruch and Sarah Shifrin, she left Russia on the trains of chassidim to Poland. Arriving in Paris, she married her husband, Rabbi David Eliyohu Moshe Junik (17 Sivan 5694 – 30 Nissan 5754). After their marriage, they initially lived in Paris, later spending some time in Toronto and Boston, until finally settling in Antwerp, Belgium, where R’ Dovid served as a shochet and mohel.

She is survived by her children: Rabbi Levi Junik (Montreal, Canada), Rabbi Berel Junik (Crown Heights), Rabbi Hershel Junik (Nachlas Har Chabad, EY), Rabbi Mendy Junik (Crown Heights), Mrs. Sarah Horowitz (Yerushalayim), Mrs. Mali Lifshitz (Antwerp, Belgium), Mrs. Chana Hertzel (Crown Heights), Mrs. Nechama Oster (Toronto, Canada), and Mrs. Bassy Weiss (Crown Heights).

The levaya will be Motzei Shabbos, passing by 770 at approximately 9:35 pm.

Kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel.
