Mrs. Devorah Azoulay, a shlucha in Levallois-Perret in a commune in north-central France, who along with her husband transformed the face of Yiddishkeit in the town, passed away suddenly on Friday, 30 Shvat.

She was 61 years old.

Mrs. Azoulay (née Aidan) began her shlichus in this small French town decades ago, when few people believed it was possible to create a vibrant Jewish centre in the neighborhood. Yet, through dedication, she and her husband, Rabbi Shlomo Azoulay, built a vibrant Chabad House, Mikveh, school, and Beis Midrash-Kollel.

Her weekly Torah classes were renowned for their depth and accessibility. She had the rare gift of making complex Torah teachings understandable to all, from scholars to beginners discovering Judaism.

She is survived by her husband, Rabbi Shlomo Azoulay, and their children: Rabbi Mendy Azoulay, Moussia Cohen, Shterna Elbaz, Chana Bentolilla, Rabbi Chaim Azoulay, and Rivka Azoulay.

Boruch dayan haemes.
