Only a few short months after Kollel Erev of Monsey was established, it has almost doubled in size, with community members joining to enjoy structured learning in a good environment.

The Kollel, established earlier this year, began with just 12 steady participants. A mere few months later, over 20 members of the Chabad community of Monsey join on a steady basis, and others come from time to time.

Two tracks are offered by the Kollel, a Monday night Halacha track, and a Wednesday night Chassidus track. Participants are given the option to sign up for Monday night, Wednesday night, or both. Each kollel member who commits to come for at least one month receives a stipend for each time they come.

Both tracks offer prepared booklets, focusing on a different topic in Halacha or Chassidus. Shiurim are also given on the selected topic, with guest rabbonim and mashpi’im giving a deeper perspective on the topic being learned.

Over the past months, the guests rabbonim and mashpi’im have included Rabbi Akiva Taub of New Square, Rabbi Avi Khan of New City, Rabbi Dovid Weber of Pomona, Rabbi Moshe Browd of Airmont and Rabbi Chaim Schochet of Wesley Hills. Many more are lined up for coming months.

Over the month of Iyar, the Kollel will be learning the topic of “chadash” in the Halacha track, and hashgacha protis in Chassdus. Maggid Shiur for Halacha will be Rabbi Aaron Dovid Gancz, and Rabbi Shimon Dubinsky for Chassidus.

“Baruch Hashem, in the short time since we founded the Kollel, we have seen tremendous hatzlacha,” Rabbi Levi Teichtel, Kollel coordinator, told Anash.org. “We hope to continue expanding over the coming weeks, giving even more locals the opportunity to infuse their week with limmud haTorah.”

The kollel is a project of NCFJE, Rabbi Simcha Werner and Rabbi Dovid Weber.
