When COVID-19 struck Zhitomir, the shluchim sprung into action, organizing a major operation delivering food and essentials, all while not forgetting to continue supplying Yiddishkeit to the thirsting souls.
The pandemic in Ukraine led to a severe shortage of essential food and basic necessities, leaving many families, and especially the elderly and those living alone, under the real threat of food insecurity.
At the direction of Head Shliach in Zhytomyr Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm, and under the strict guidelines of Ukrainian health officials, local Shluchim headed by Rabbi Avraham Deutsch have been working for the past several months arranging special kits to be delivered to locals.
Each kit contains a nutritious hot meal, a fruit basket and a variety of basic products as well as essential hygiene products, as well as a package of Shabbos candles and Jewish leaflets.
