In an exciting announcement — just before the International Shluchim Conference in New York — the Government of Mexico has appointed Rabbi Dudi Caplin, shliach in Cozumel, as the Chief Rabbi of the tourist region of Quintana Roo.
In an exciting announcement, just before the International Kinus Hashluchim in New York, it was reported that the Government of Mexico has appointed Rabbi Dudi Caplin, shliach in Cozumel, as the Chief Rabbi of the State of Quintana Roo.
Mexico is made up of 32 states, and Quintana Roo is known as the most visited and touristic state in the entire country, home to world-famous destinations such as Cozumel, Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Tulum, and Bacalar.
The official appointment, endorsed by government officials and members of the Jewish community, marks a major milestone for Chabad in Mexico. Rabbi Caplin, who has been serving the local residents and tourists for many years, will continue to expand his work in other cities across the state.
The local Jewish community welcomed the appointment, calling it a recognition of many years of dedication, love for every Jew, and tireless service to the public.
