In a heartwarming celebration, hundreds of Jews gathered in Amsterdam’s iconic Dam Square, in front of the Royal Palace, to celebrate Chanukah in unity and pride. The event, held in the wake of recent challenges, was a testament to resilience, joy, and Jewish pride.

The evening was filled with music, dancing, and inspiring speeches, drawing people together in tremendous unity. Among the dignitaries was Caroline van der Plas, leader of one of the largest political parties in the Netherlands. In her heartfelt remarks, she praised the contributions of the Jewish community to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and the world. She encouraged all present to take pride in their identity and draw lessons from the Chanukah story to continue shining their light.

New Chief Officer of Police, Peter Holla, was also in attendance.

Shliach Rabbi Menachem Evers, the event’s organizer, spoke passionately about the importance of being a “proud lighthouse,” radiating light and positivity to the world. His words resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom shared how the celebration on the most famous square in the Netherlands gave them renewed strength and pride in their Jewish identity.

The menorah was lit by Chanan Hertzberger, a prominent leader in the Jewish community.
