In the wake of the horrific attack in Sydney, a delegation from Melbourne, led by rabbonim and community leaders, traveled to offer chizuk and support to the shaken Jewish community.

Among those who came were Harav Shlomo Kohn, rov of the chassidishe Adas Yisroel community in Melbourne, Rabbi Mendel Zirkind, the newly appointed rov of the Yeshiva Centre Anash community, and Rabbi Yossi Fromer, an educator and Maggid Shiur in Melbourne.

During their visit, they met with Rabbi Yehoram Ulman, the father-in-law of the murdered shliach, Rabbi Eli Schlanger HY”D, and director of Chabad of Bondi, to convey condolences and words of chizuk.

The rabbonim also met with members of ZAKA who had traveled from Eretz Yisroel to assist with the kavod hames of the kedoshim. They visited the fresh kever of Rabbi Schlanger and spent time strengthening family members and community leaders grappling with the loss. They also spent time in conversation with Sydney shluchim Rabbi Dovid Slavin and Rabbi Mendel Kastel.

As part of their visit, the delegation also went to the hospital to see Yanky Super, a 24-year-old bochur from Melbourne who was struck by a bullet that narrowly missed his spine at the Chanukah event and is now on his way to recovery.
