Yeshivah Gedolah celebrated twelve bochurim completing Maseches Kesubos and the 15th year of its Mivtzah Torah program with speeches, a Rebbe video, and concluding with joyous dancing.

In a remarkable display of diligence and Torah scholarship, a special Siyum celebration was held on Monday evening, 10 Menachem Av, at the Rabbinical College of Australia and New Zealand (Yeshivah Gedolah), honouring twelve bochurim who completed the entire Maseches Kesubos – widely known as “Shas Kattan” for its breadth and depth.

The mesaymim: Mendy Abenaim, Zalman Blesofsky, Yoav Cooper, Nachi Gutnick, Menachem Goldberg, Shaya Groner, Gershon Ber Jacobson, Yossi Jacobson, Shalom Ber Kaye, Kovi Leinkram, Shabsi Pewzner, and Berel Wolf.

The event marked a double milestone: not only did a record number of students complete the Masechta, but it also marked the 15th anniversary of the Mivtzah Torah program at YG, generously supported by the Werdiger family.

The evening opened with words of welcome from Rabbi Shmuel Lesches (menahel). Speaking on behalf of the program’s sponsors, Rabbi Boruch Werdiger reflected on how the event encapsulates the Rebbe’s vision for Yeshivah Gedolah – “to conquer Australia through the learning of Torah.”

Shalom Ber Kaye then concluded Maseches Kesubos on behalf of all the mesaymim. Since true success in Torah is not marked by rest or satisfaction, but by immediate continuation, the next Masechta – Bava Kama – was promptly begun by Nachi Gutnick. This was followed by the Hadran, the traditional thesis upon completing a tractate, delivered by Yossi Jacobson.

A special video of the Rebbe discussing the importance of Gemara study – particularly Maseches Kesubos – added a deeply moving dimension to the event. The video highlighted the significance of the Masechta’s conclusion, which offers praise of Eretz Yisroel and its unique blessings – especially relevant in today’s times.

The keynote address was delivered by Rabbi Don Coleman, visiting maggid shiur, who spoke passionately about the power of Yeshivah learning and the transformative value of sustained Torah study.

All twelve mesaymim were presented with individual awards in recognition of their achievements. Earlier that day, the group was farhered by Rav Kohn, rov of Adass, who was deeply impressed by their exceptional mastery and depth of understanding.

The evening concluded with lively dancing, as students, staff, and guests joined together in joyous celebration – a true expression of Yeshivah spirit.
