Mega Event Planned for Sefer Torah HaKloli on the Parkway
For the first time ever in the United States, more than four decades after the Rebbe established the Sefer Torah HaKloli, the 11th Torah will be completed in Crown Heights with a major event on Eastern Parkway.
This Sunday, a historic moment will unfold on Eastern Parkway as Shluchim from around the world and Anash of Crown Heights join for the completion of the 11th Sefer Torah HaKloli. Families, children, and guests from all over will come together for a grand outdoor concert, hakafos, and a unifying display of Jewish pride and achdus.
In the month of Nissan of 1981, the Rebbe launched a campaign that would become one of the most unifying initiatives: that every Jewish child should acquire a letter in a Sefer Torah. From the very first sichos, the Rebbe spoke with striking urgency. The global atmosphere at that time felt unstable—one person, one decision, could threaten world security.
In the weeks that followed, the Rebbe repeatedly urged that children be signed up immediately. The Shabbos before shavuos, the Rebbe urged that everyone, including adults, should buy a letter in the sefer Torah. Then, on the first night of Shavuos, a remarkable event shook the world: Israel carried out a one-minute, twenty-second mission to destroy the Iraqi nuclear reactor. Every soldier returned home safely. Chassidim saw clearly: a world rescued at the very moment the Rebbe emphasized the power of children united through Torah.
In the years that followed, the Rebbe expanded the campaign further: every Jew—adults included—should purchase a letter in the Sefer Torah HaKloli.
Now, more than four decades later, for the first time ever in the United States, the 11th Sefer Torah HaKloli will be completed right here in Crown Heights. In the current global climate, the world may feel as unstable as in 1981; therefore, we as chassidim must heed the Rebbe’s call in participating in the Sefer Torah Hakloli.
Previously, several events have taken place in Israel and even in Canada, celebrating completed Sifrei Torah Hakloli. This Sunday, the community is invited and encouraged to take part, “b’gufo u’b’mamoini”—in marking and celebrating this great milestone and achievement.
A grand outdoor concert and hakafos will be held in front of 770. Families, children, shluchim, anash, and guests are all encouraged to attend and take part in this historic moment of unity.
The final letters of the Sefer Torah will be written in the Oholei Torah Ballroom starting at 6:30, followed by a grand procession to 770 at 7:30, where the hakafos and hachnasas Sefer Torah will take place.

Ahead of the historic completion of the Sefer Torah for the unity of Israel, which will take place after the banquet at the Kinus Hashluchim at the Chabad World Headquarters – 770 in New York, the Orichman brothers — Rabbi Shneur Zalman, Chabad shliach in Tallahassee, and Rabbi Shmuel, Chabad’s director of government relations — present the Sefer Torah to MK Michael Malchieli.
Is there a way to find out if someone is already registered ?
If someone already registered for a previous Sefer Torah, does he register for this one too?
Do children register for this Sefer Torah as well as the children’s one?
