Inspired by Mrs. Gillian Shnitzer’s Rosh Chodesh gatherings, Rosh Jodesh Latino and Merkos 302 Español are offering a two-day program for Spanish-speaking women worldwide, featuring farbrengens, Torah classes, and visits to 770 and the Ohel.
Ever since the Frierdiker Rebbe chose Crown Heights as the new home for Chabad’s headquarters in 1940, the neighborhood became the movement’s beating heart. Across the globe, stories are told of 770’s hallowed halls, iconic moments in Chabad’s recent history, and the education hub for future Shluchim who bring Chabad’s mission to every corner of the world. This November, a group of Spanish-speaking ladies will have the opportunity to experience this legendary place for themselves.
Organized by Merkos 302’s Spanish Desk together with Rosh Jodesh Latino, the trip comes in response to demand from the attendees of Rosh Jodesh Latino’s monthly programs. It is aimed at Spanish-speaking ladies of all ages, from all backgrounds. The two-day itinerary will include classes, farbrengens, guided tours, and a grand banquet, all in Spanish.
“The Rebbe’s community and Shul has been an inspiration to tens of thousands of visitors throughout the years,” says Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, executive director of Merkos 302. “The Spanish desk at Merkos 302 aims to extend a variety of our programs across the language barrier and this one is no exception, ensuring Spanish speakers can also experience this iconic place.”
Bringing together an international community bonded by a common language, the trip aims to enable ladies of all ages to forge new connections and friendships. For those seeking a break from their regular routine, it offers to fill some downtime with uplifting speeches from noted educators, study time to nurture the soul, and a renewed connection with the worldwide Chabad community.
No trip to Chabad’s epicenter is complete without visiting The Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens. The schedule will include ample time for self-reflection and heartfelt prayers for personal and communal needs at the Rebbe’s resting place.
“Many of our Rosh Jodesh Latino attendees have a limited connection with Judaism aside from this program, or may only attend synagogue a few times a year,” explains Mrs Gillian Shnitzler, Director of Rosh Jodesh Latino. “The idea of this retreat is to jumpstart a more active connection to their Jewish roots in the future.”
“Trips such as these have proven instrumental in many people’s Jewish journey,” adds Rabbi Chai Kohan, Director of the Spanish desk at Merkos 302. “When the demand arose from the Rosh Jodesh Latino group, we chose to extend this opportunity to all Spanish-speaking ladies wherever they may be, and are sure it will be a meaningful experience for all.”
Limited spots are available.
