One of the largest Pesach relief efforts in the Jewish world is now underway across Ukraine, as extensive shipments of Pesach supplies are being prepared and delivered to dozens of cities.
In the coming days, shluchim together with FJC’s humanitarian arm in Ukraine, JRNU, will distribute the packages throughout the country, ensuring that every Jew receives hand-made Shmurah Matzah for the Seder night and Kosher for Pesach food – following the Rebbe’s directive even under the most challenging conditions.
From JRNU’s central warehouses, trucks are departing daily carrying tens of tons of matzah, including large quantities of both handmade and machine-produced matzah, alongside essential holiday provisions. The scenes on the ground reflect the scale of the effort: vast storage spaces filled with carefully organized pallets, boxes labeled by destination, and dedicated volunteers working tirelessly to load kosher-for-Pesach food supplies.
In addition to matzah, the shipments include tons of kosher meat and poultry, with particularly large quantities designated for communities hosting public Seder nights and operating communal kitchens. A wide range of staple products is also being distributed—oil, olive oil, sugar, salt, Pesach cookies, almonds, nuts, and many other essentials—packed into thousands of boxes for families and emissaries alike.
According to JRNU, this year’s operation requires exceptional coordination and commitment. Rabbi Simcha Levenhartz, who oversees the logistics on the ground, emphasized that despite ongoing difficulties in infrastructure and access to certain regions. “Every Jew will receive shmurah matzah,” he said. “This is the Rebbe’s directive, and it continues everywhere, without exception.”
As the trucks make their way across the country each day, often accompanied by volunteers, the initiative brings not only vital holiday supplies but also a strong sense of connection and support. “Pesach is the Festival of Freedom,” Rabbi Levenhartz added. “And for many Jewish families, that sense of freedom begins with knowing they have not been forgotten—with matzah arriving at their door and the essential assistance they need for the holiday.”
